Overview

Established in the early 1980s, the Holy Names Academy Development Program secures annual, capital, and endowment resources so that the school can continue to fulfill its mission – now and in the future – to educate young women of all backgrounds.  Through a comprehensive fundraising program, the Academy is able to provide an outstanding learning environment for all its students, regardless of their socio-economic status.  Currently, over 30% of HNA students receive financial aid.

The Academy’s Development Program reaches out to all members of the HNA community, and gratefully receives strong and committed support.  It responds to the immediate and to the long-term needs of the school.

Annual Giving (DONATE ONLINE TODAY)

Annual Giving
Annual Giving invites the entire Holy Names Academy community (trustees, alumnae, parents, faculty/staff, and friends) to participate in the excellent educational programs for which the Academy is recognized locally and nationally. The Annual Giving Program runs every fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. It provides financial aid for deserving students, enhances faculty, staff, and coaches' salaries, and supports special building or school projects.  As part of Annual Giving, a program designed specifically for current parents encourages them to contribute toward the full cost of educating their daughter. The 2008-2009 Annual Giving overall goal is $550,000.

Deck The Dome
Deck the Dome is an annual Christmas event held on the first Saturday in December to celebrate the holiday season and the lighting of the school dome. All Holy Names Academy constituents are invited to the festivities, which include mini silent and live auctions of holiday gifts and decorations.  Each year proceeds benefit the “wish list” of a selected department within the school. Funds raised this year will be used to establish an “E-Library” Endowment that will help provide HNA’s library with e-books, online content subscriptions, and access to research databases.

CHEER! Auction
The CHEER! Auction is the Academy's largest annual fundraising and community-building celebration. This school-year's event is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2009. Proceeds from the auction provide financial aid for deserving students, support new curriculum and programs, and fund new equipment or enhanced facilities. The 2009 auction will benefit HNA's endowment fund; general proceeds will go toward the scholarship fund, and the funded item will support the purchase of new desks and chairs for classrooms. All constituents are cordially invited to attend the auction and are encouraged to donate items and to volunteer on the various planning committees.

 Jogathon
The Jogathon is a student fundraiser held each fall. This year's event took place on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Students invite family and friends (by mail) to sponsor their participation in the event, after which they walk or jog around the Montlake Track, a nearby park/recreation area, for one hour.  Proceeds directly benefit the athletic program. The 2008-2009 Jogathon goal is $94,000.

Candy Sale
The Candy Sale is a student fundraiser that has been an annual tradition for over thirty years. This event is held the first week in February, when students are given a designated amount of candy to sell. Each year the monies raised benefit students directly; monies from the 2008-2009 candy sale will be used to replace computers and monitors in the East computer lab, monitors in the West computer lab, enhance the dance room and begin replacement of the restroom water faucets with efficient auto-shut off fixtures. The 2007-2008 Candy Sale raised $57,600 in net proceeds.
