Bequests: Legacy Gifts

The Leontine Heritage Society honors those who have included HNA in their will or estate plans and have informed the Academy of their intent. We encourage you to make Holy Names Academy a part of your legacy to family and to programs you believe in. Opening Doors
"My mother instilled in me the desire to get a good education, and life taught me the value of it. Holy Names Academy, the faculty, and my classmates were all a part of the experience, pushing me to think critically, work hard, hold to my values, and have some fun along the way. The education I received at Holy Names has opened many doors for me, and I'd like to be able to hold a door open for other young women so that they may have the same chance I had. That is why during my estate planning it was important to me to include Holy Names."

Part of the HNA Family
" I had no idea what I was starting", said Mary Ellen Warfield who came to the Academy in 1989 as a volunteer receptionist. She went on to serve for seven years as Executive Secretary to Sister Mary Tracy, the school's Principal at the time. But 1989 was also the literal beginning for another deep connection of Mary Ellen's to the Academy - for that is the year her first grandchild and a future HNA student, Elizabeth Anne "Lizzie" Johnson, was born!
Lizzie graduated from the school in 2008, and her younger sister, Sarah, is a member of the class of 2010. Through all the years Mary Ellen and her husband, Jack, moved ever closer to their present status as members of the Academy's Leontine Heritage Society.
Last November, knowing how much Holy Names Academy meant to his wife and as a birthday present for her, Jack notified the Development Office that HNA is in their will!
How did they come to this important decision? For many reasons, of course. There were Mary Ellen's years of faithful service to the Academy. There were Jack's service, too, as a member of the HNA Investment Committee in the 1990s. Mary Ellen and Jack also made frequent "anonymous angel" contributions for students whose families were in arrears in tuition payments. And there were the school ties of their granddaughters.
When asked what prompted him to commit to membership in the Leontine Heritage Society, Jack didn't hesitate to say, "The tradition of the school and all those who have gone before, the Academy's high quality of education, and the choices and challenges it poses to its students are what impacted my decision." Inspired by the support of the Sisters and teachers for the students, both Mary Ellen and Jack are proud to be loyal members and staunch supporters of the Holy Names Academy family! Thank you Mary Ellen and Jack Warfield!
