Community and Belonging
Holy Names Academy is on its journey towards community and belonging. As a place of learning, HNA is working intentionally to build a place where all feel their unique thoughts, ideas, and perspectives matter. Our school centers its SNJM values of justice, service to those who are marginalized, hospitality, and commitment to liberating actions to grow in the creation of a welcoming, representative, and diverse community. At Holy Names Academy, we believe that in order to create an environment where all feel they can bring their best, authentic selves, we must create a collective, multiracial, equitable, and inclusive space where all feel they belong. Our journey has taught us that we must weave our work together, with an intentional and well-thought-out plan. We have centered our foundation work in the following areas, with the knowledge that our work will grow as we do.
Community and Belonging Principles are integrated into HNA's school counseling, academic support coordination, college counseling, and library curriculum. Read more about the support available to HNA students here.
Student Unions
HNA has a Multicultural Student Union (MSU) and six Affinity Groups (AGs): Black Student Union; Asian, Pacific Islander Student Union; Latinx Student Union; Multiracial Student Union; Queer Student Union; and Disability and Neurodiverse Student Union.
C&B Committee
HNA's Community and Belonging Committee is responsible for creating data-driven analysis and action steps that support In Pursuit of Right Relationships. This committee is made up of members of HNA's faculty, staff, and administration.
