Why Top Female Athletes Choose Holy Names Academy

At Holy Names Academy, student athletes do not just participate, they thrive. Choosing an all-girls school like HNA means your athlete is surrounded by a community that truly understands how to support young women - through expert coaching, professional-grade equipment and facilities, and a culture that builds confidence and strength, on and off the field. Each year, Holy Names Academy athletes compete in 16 sports, including 12 Metro League Teams, 3 Independent/Club Teams, and 4 no-cut sports (fall crew, cross country, swim & dive, and track & field). Standout benefits include:

Leadership Opportunities
All athletic leadership roles are for girls. Athletes have more opportunities to speak up and make decisions.

Confidence and Empowerment
Students report less comparison and pressure tied to their appearance. They feel safe in a space where, as students and athletes, they are able to try, fail, and grow.

Visibility and Recognition
At HNA, female athletes are the stars of their programs and not secondary to coed or boys' programs.

All Holy Names Academy Athletes receive direct access to Certified Athletic Trainer Julia Olson, who provides personalized, one-on-one care on campus during the school day. From preventative treatment and injury evaluations to customized return-to-play plans, Trainer Julia ensures HNA's athletes stay healthy and strong. She is a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and leads free classes to help HNA athletes build their resilience and confidence. She also travels with teams to provide real-time support.

Athletes also have use of specialized recovery equipment, including Normatecs, to maximize athletic performance using dynamic air compression and precision pulse technology.

HNA’s partnership with Seattle Sport Rehabilitation and Performance provides athletes with important knowledge and resources to support lifelong best practices in the areas of nutrition and healthy eating.

For more than 20 years, Athletic Director and Metro League President Lacey London has championed HNA Athletics. Her leadership and dedication have shaped a program that empowers student athletes to reach their full potential.

At HNA, we believe athletics are about more than competition. They are a foundation for leadership, wellness, and success. “Girls who participate in sports not only cultivate physical fitness, but they also develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management.” *International Coalition of Girls’ Schools, March 2024.
