Holy Names Academy's Athletic Director, Lacey London, introduces Coach Rachel Wong to the community.
" I am excited to announce Rachel Wong as Holy Names Academy’s new Head Crew Coach and Program Director, beginning in mid-June 2025. Coach Rachel brings a wealth of crew experiences to the role as athlete, coach, club administrator, and everything in between!
Coach Rachel served as the Executive Director of Renton Rowing Center. In this role, she trained and developed an entire team of coaches. She has also learned what it takes to be a strong leader, as fundraising, community mobilization, and creative problem-solving are essential to successfully running a boathouse. During her tenure, RRC has grown its youth program by 30%, expanded its adult program by over 50%, and qualified two crews to Youth Nationals for the first time in program history across back-to-back years. Prior to this role, Coach Rachel worked as the Long-Term Athlete Development Coordinator and Youth Crew Coach for Long Term Rower Development LLC, a business and rowing club designed to center the individual athlete using research-based practices. Her duties included recruiting new athletes, leading team communications between staff and community members, managing all travel logistics, tracking athlete data, and coaching athletes ranging in age from twelve and up. Prior to that, she worked as a novice crew coach at Seattle Prep and an assistant novice crew coach at Green Lake Crew, learning the best techniques and methodologies for working with young rowers to set them up for success in the long term.
I am thrilled to welcome Coach Rachel to the HNA community—her passion, experience, and leadership will be invaluable to our Crew program!"
