Career Day 2019 at HNA

Keynote Address

For over 30 years, Holy Names Academy has hosted an annual Career Day for its students. Career Day 2019, on April 3, began with a keynote address by Ms. Brooke Sullivan, Strategic Human Resources Business Partner with the Seattle Mariners. A 2003 graduate of Gonzaga University, Ms. Sullivan has worked for the Mariners since 2014, starting as an Assistant Controller, then becoming a Controller before assuming her current position. She spent almost 10 years working as an Audit Manager and in Senior Audit at Deloitte and Touche.

In an engaging keynote address, Ms. Sullivan conveyed to students the importance of exploring your dreams and recognizing they may change over time. In the Q&A session that followed, students asked about Ms. Sullivan's experience as a woman in a male-dominated industry and some of the challenges she has faced. Ms. Sullivan's story was one that could relate to many, regardless of career interest.

Breakout Sessions

Following the keynote address, students broke into smaller groups to hear from dozens of speakers representing a wide variety of professions, with an emphasis on women professionals. Out of  34 speakers this year, 16 are HNA alumnae and five are parents of current students.
